The Take-Off

As a regular business traveller, I’m forever dealing with the draining effects of jetlag, changes in diet, uncomfortable flights and a plethora of other stresses to my body and mind. Desperate to find a solution, in 2011, I signed up for the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, in the hope it might help me to make small improvements to my travel routines and rigours. I was staggered by the results!

Seven years later, meditation and mindfulness are an integral part of my life and I have emphatically embraced the benefits it has brought to my business abroad. I am an accredited Awareness Coach with the Centre for Mindful Living and a qualified Mindfulness and Compassion teacher with Mindfulness UK.

What is Mindfulness ?

Mindfulness is the simple yet powerful practice of training our attention.

It’s simple because it’s just about paying attention to what’s happening here and now. Notice your own sensations, thought and emotions.

Just notice them – don’t judge them.

It’s so powerful because it breaks the habit of getting lost in thoughts and worries about both the past and the future, which most commonly lead us into stressful thinking.

Mindfulness is increasingly recognised as an effective cure for healing stress and provides a higher sense of wellness and relaxation.

What the Experts Say ?

Over the past 30 years, there has been a wealth of research concluding mindfulness is fundamentally associated with improvement in key areas such as wellbeing, relationships and performance.

Experts at Harvard University have found that people who practice mindfulness meditation show changes in brain regions which control learning and memory processes, the ability to regulate emotions and to respond to different situations by taking different perspectives.

A Journey for the Mind

In the travel industry, we’re starting to see an increased interest in mindfulness and the benefits it can offer to businesses, employees and customers.

Many airlines, including Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Delta and Cathay Pacific have started promoting meditation and mindfulness by introducing an audio channel on long-haul flights devoted to meditation practices.

How Can Meditation Improve Your Travel Experiences ?
  • You’ll become more aware of your own thoughts as you step back and choose to respond in different ways. This can bring about huge benefits, especially when dealing with the stresses of flight delays, angry customers, lost suitcases, etc.
  • Your body relaxes and the tension disappears, replaced by a wave of clam.
  • You’ll achieve sharper focus and raised energy levels as you train your mind to stay firmly in the present moment. The sharper your focus and energy, the more resilient and productive you’ll be at work.

Weekly Mindfulness Sessions
Trip Unwind offers weekly drop in mindfulness and meditation sessions in house for companies. With a range of different practices, from formal meditation to mindful eating, these sessions can help participants to come out of autopilot and experience the benefits of a clearer and more spacious mind. 
Here, the main aim is to slow down so that we allow to reduce stress and focus. And with that reduction in stress and a greater focus, we are better prepared to meet everyday's work challenges.

Mindfulness Workshops

Trip Unwind provides valuable Mindfulness Workshops for companies. Workshops can last between 2 hours to a full day and normally include a talk on the origin and benefits of mindfulness, some useful practices and feedback time.
Participants will be given tips on how to introduce mindfulness in their everyday life and a handout with all of the information needed to help them keep practicing!

Mindfulness Retreats

Trip Unwind offers the opportunity to get participants started with this amazing practice or to further explore it by leading mindfulness retreats across the country and abroad.
Trip Unwind is partnering with other Wellbeing providers, including qualified nutritionists and yoga teachers, to craft weekends where participants can truly rest, recharge and restore.
Our retreats allow participants to learn how to be present, clear their minds, nurture themselves and possibly achieve a true perspective on their lives and businesses.

Mindfulness To Work Course

This 8-week course is specifically created for business travellers and all those people working within the travel industry. The course aims at tackling stress factors and helps travel professionals to improve their work performance, regain focus and become more resilient. The Course can be tailor made according to companies and individual needs as it can be run in a group or one-to-one.

Mindfulness To Work 6 Weeks Online Course- Special Offer

The Mindfulness to Work course meets every week for 6 weeks, every Monday between 6.30pm and 8pm, starting Monday 27th July.
There are daily mindfulness sessions every day Monday to Friday at 8.00-8.30am to help all participants to start developing their practice.
There is a half day class on Sunday 23rd August between the 4th and 5th week, from 10am to 2pm.
